"The Final Touch" (1954), Gil Elvgren
The second card I got from Anna has another amazing pin-up illustration, this time made by the most famous pin-up artist, the American Gil Elvgren (if he was alive he would celebrate his 100th anniversary this year). I really love the work of Gil Elvgren (have several books and always like to imagine a story behind every picture and every girl). For those of you that think this is a under-form of art, I just find out that the original of this illustration was recently sold in auction for $77,675! Thank you very much Anna, for sending me another pin-up postcard to my collection. This postcard took 8 days to arrive!
Gil Elvgren (1914 – 1980), born Gillette Elvgren in Saint Paul, Minnesota, was an American painter of pin-up girls, advertising and illustration. Elvgren studied at the American Academy of Art and was one of the most important pin-up and glamour artists of the twentieth century. Elvgren lived in various locations, and was active from the 1930s to 1970s. His clients ranged from Brown and Bigelow and Coca-Cola to General Electric and Sealy Mattress Company.
