Florida Key Lime Pie - FL - USA

The only two cards I got today came both from the United States of America, the first from Florida with one of the state most well known deserts (and since 2006 the official state pie), the Key Lime Pie, that often appears in american movies and books. Thank you very much Martha for delicious postcard, my first recipe card -  in the summer I usually drink a lot of Lime juice, but never tried one made with key limes or of course the famous Key Lime Pie (something I'll definitely do if I ever visit Florida). This postcard took 11 days to arrive!

Key lime pie is an American dessert made of Key lime juice, egg yolks, and sweetened condensed milk in a pie crust. The traditional Conch version uses the egg whites to make a meringue topping. The dish is named after the small Key limes (Citrus aurantifolia 'Swingle') that are naturalized throughout the Florida Keys. Key limes are more tart and aromatic than the common Persian limes seen year round in most U.S. grocery stores. Key lime juice, unlike regular lime juice, is a pale yellow. The filling in Key lime pie is also yellow, largely due to the egg yolks.
