Ravello, Costiera Amalfitana - ITALY - UNESCO #830

The second card Massimo sent me is from Ravello, right on the 'Costiera Amalfitana' (Amalfi coast) in the province of Salerno, western Italy, a place I didn't knew at all before getting this card. Thank you so much Massimo for another great contribution to my UNESCO collection, I really like this "bling" card, even if it cost me a good 10 minutes cleaning the scanner afterwards (this little shiny things are such a pain to remove from the glass). So, my collection reaches 415 WHS, only 592 left. This postcard took 5 days to arrive!

The Amalfi coast is an area of great physical beauty and natural diversity. It has been intensively settled by human communities since the early Middle Ages. There are a number of towns such as Amalfi and Ravello with architectural and artistic works of great significance. The rural areas show the versatility of the inhabitants in adapting their use of the land to the diverse nature of the terrain, which ranges from terraced vineyards and orchards on the lower slopes to wide upland pastures.
