"Spring" (1900), Alphonse Mucha
Part of a series of four posters called "The Four Seassons", this beautiful illustration was made in 1900 by the great Mucha, one of the most famous Art Nouveau designers. I always loved the look of Art Nouveau Posters, specially when used in publicity (for instance the Moet et Chandon ads designed precisely by Alphonse Mucha) and this card is just amazing. Thank you very much Amina, now that I have Spring, I'll start looking for the other three seasons. This postcard took 4 days to arrive!
Alfons Maria Mucha (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939), often known as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist, known best for his distinct style. He produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisements, postcards, and designs. Mucha was established as a leading poster artist between 1895 and 1900. During this period, posters by Mucha appeared in Les Maîtres de l'Affiche. Also from that time, Mucha’s distinctive style was called ‘le style Mucha’, becoming synonymous with the current ‘Art Nouveau’ style.
