Brandenburg Gate, Berlin - GERMANY

The Brandenburg Gate in Berlin is probably the most famous landmark of the capital of Germany (at least since the fall of the infamous Berlin wall) - it was originally a city gate, rebuilt in the 18th century as a neoclassical triumphal arch. Berlin is one of the few Western European capitals that I never visited, must go there one of this days. Thank you Michele for the beautiful card. This postcard took 4 days to arrive!

Berlin is the capital city of and one of the 16 states of Germany. With a population of 3.3 million people, Berlin is Germany's largest city and is the seventh biggest urban area in the European Union.  Around one third of the city's area is composed of forests, parks, gardens, rivers and lakes. Berlin is home to renowned universities, research institutes, orchestras, museums, and celebrities and is host to many sporting events. The city is well known for its festivals, diverse architecture, nightlife, contemporary arts, public transportation networks, and an extremely high quality of living.
