Royal Hill of Ambohimanga - MADAGASCAR - UNESCO #950

Another great card from Christine, this time showing Ambohimanga, one of the 12 sacred mountains around the capital city Antananarivo and the only UNESCO site that she didn't visit - well but the postcard is here and since there are only three WHS in Madagascar, I've completed another country on the list - thank you so much Christine for taking the time to write and mail me this amazing cards, a major help to my collection (374 down, 607 to go!). This postcard took 15 days to arrive!

UNESCO #950 - Royal Hill of Ambohimanga - MADAGASCAR

The Royal Hill of Ambohimanga consists of a royal city and burial site, and an ensemble of sacred places. It is associated with strong feelings of national identity, and has maintained its spiritual and sacred character both in ritual practice and the popular imagination for the past 500 years. It remains a place of worship to which pilgrims come from Madagascar and elsewhere.
