Pula Arena - CROATIA

The Pula Arena is the best known landmark of that beautiful coastal city in Croatia (Istria County). It's amazingly well preserved and still used today for concerts and theater shows. Pula was my first stop in Croatia when I made a road trip through the Mediterranean coast some years ago (I remember eating a giant plate of lobster and seafood with several bottles of Karlovačko!) and the visit of the Arena was quite impressive. Thank you very much Antonella for this wonderful card. This postcards took 7 days to arrive!

The Pula Arena is the name of the amphitheatre located in Pula, Croatia. The Arena is the only remaining Roman amphitheatre to have four side towers and with all three Roman architectural orders entirely preserved. It was constructed in 27 BC – 68 AD and is among the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the World. A rare example among the 200 Roman surviving amphitheatres, it is also the best preserved ancient monument in Croatia.
