Sopoćani - SERBIA - UNESCO #96

The Sopoćani Monastery or the House of Holy Trinity is one of the most important Serbian cultural monuments and the first one from that country to be included on the UNESCO WHS list, mainly because of the frescoes, globally considered a masterpiece of art. Thank you very much, for another extraordinary card Ratka. This postcard took 9 days to arrive!

UNESCO #96 - The Sopoćani Monastery, Stari Ras - SERBIA

Located at the confluence of the Raska and lbar, on the outskirts of Stari Ras, the ancient town of Ras became in 1159, with its accession to the Serb dynasty of Nemangic, the first Serb State capital. The buildings of Stari Ras are an impressive group of medieval monuments consisting of fortresses, churches and monasteries. The monastery at Sopoćani is a reminder of the contacts between Western civilization and the Byzantine world.
