Glacier Bay - AK - USA - UNESCO #72

Glacier Bay is part of the transboundary site (USA - Canada) that also includes Kluane, Wrangell-St. Elias and Tatshenshini-Alsek. This is the largest UNESCO protected biosphere in the world. On the card we can see Margerie Glacier at the head of Tarr Inlet in the West Arm of this National Park. Thank you very much Judy for this beautiful card - let's hope that global warming won't destroy this frozen landscapes (because of its beauty and most of all for its importance in Earth's equilibrium). Because it is a UNESCO WHS (my 15th from USA) my collection grows to 360 sites, only 621 to finish. This postcard took 20 days to arrive!

UNESCO #72 - Glacier Bay National Park - ALASKA - USA

These parks comprise an impressive complex of glaciers and high peaks on both sides of the border between Canada (Yukon Territory and British Columbia) and the United States (Alaska). The spectacular natural landscapes are home to many grizzly bears, caribou and Dall's sheep. The site contains the largest non-polar icefield in the world.
