Angkor Wat, Siem Reap - CAMBODIA - UNESCO #668
Life is filled with coincidences and sometimes you wonder about the universe sense of humor! After receiving yesterday the envelope from Du with 7 amazing Angkor cards today I found out this precious thing sent by Patrick, an american postcrosser that is on the far east in a "epic family vacation in Asia" (his words) and remembered my preference for cards sent from location. Thank you so much Patrick for reminding me and for taking the time at your vacations to send this beautiful postcard, the amazing stamp with a Khmer temple and of course, the round postage cancellation stamp from 'Angkor, Siem Reap' - I really love it. This postcards took 15 days to arrive!
Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 km2, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations. UNESCO has set up a wide-ranging programme to safeguard this symbolic site and its surroundings.
