Novodevichy Convent, Moscow - RUSSIA - UNESCO #1097

The second Russian card of the day brings me a new UNESCO WHS for my collection. The Novodevichy Convent is a amazing building in Moscow and I probably is now covered in snow like in this beautiful photo, because according to the sender, Moscow is currently with -19ºC and everything is frozen. Thank you very much Julia, this is my 300th UNESCO site postcard, only 681 to finish. This postcard took 16 days to arrive!

UNESCO #1097 - The Novodevichy Convent, Moscow - RUSSIA
The Novodevichy Convent, in south-western Moscow, built in the 16th and 17th centuries in the so-called Moscow Baroque style, was part of a chain of monastic ensembles that were integrated into the defence system of the city. The convent was directly associated with the political, cultural and religious history of Russia, and closely linked to the Moscow Kremlin. The convent provides an example of the highest accomplishments of Russian architecture with rich interiors and an important collection of paintings and artefacts.
