A Jeepney is one of the most peculiar public transportation in the - the first ones were made from scraps left by the Americans during WWII (hence the name) and the owners use bright lights, paintings and really loud music in order to attract passengers world (and according to friend of mine that was in Manila, in a jeepney there's always room for one more). Thank you very much Raine for the card and the nice message (she travels on 3 jeepneys a day!). This postcard took 16 days to arrive!

Jeepneys are the most popular means of public transportation in the Philippines. They are known for their crowded seating and kitsch decorations, which have become a ubiquitous symbol of Philippine culture and art. Originally made from U.S. military jeeps left over from World War II, the word jeepney came from the combination of the words "jeep" and "jitney", a franchised small bus that carries passengers on a regular route with flexible schedule.
