Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi - UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

My first card from United Arab Emirates arrived! It's always a great feeling when you get the first card from a country. It's not from a UNESCO site, but from a outstanding mosque; the construction that last for more than 10 years with a cost of over $500 milion (some time ago I saw a program in Nat Geo about about the process of building this mosque and it's really incredible). Thank you very much Ritz, I really love this card and thanks to you I can add a new country name to the list on this blog. This postcard took 32 days to arrive!

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi - UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is located in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates and is considered to be the key for worship in the country. The late President of the United Arab Emirates, HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, wanted to establish a structure which unites the cultural diversity of Islamic world, the historical and modern values of architecture and art. It is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest mosque in the world. The site is equivalent to the size five football fields approximately. During Eid it can be visited more than 40,000 people.
