Sakura - JAPAN

Cherry Blossom is one of the most identifiable Japanese pictures (from the ancient illustrations to the modern photos). This beautiful official card is my first showing the Japanese Sakura. Because I live in Fundão (the greatest cherry production region in Portugal) I know very well the amazing spectacle that every spring cherry trees give us with their branches covered with beautiful flowers (still, I prefer them in late June, early July, with that same branches now filled with delicious cherries). Thank you very much Yuka. This postcard took 21 days to arrive!

Japanese Sakura (Cherry Blossom) - JAPAN

Sakura is the Japanese term for ornamental cherry blossom trees and their blossoms. A cherry blossom is the flower of any of several trees of genus Prunus, particularly the Japanese Cherry, Prunus serrulata. Many of the varieties that have been cultivated for ornamental use do not produce fruit. Edible cherries generally come from cultivars of the related species Prunus avium and Prunus cerasus.
