Grand Canyon National Park - AZ - USA - UNESCO #75
This beautiful postcard shows the breathtaking and dramatic view from Toroweap Overlook that stands 3000 vertical feet above the Colorado River. According to the message on the back, the Renowned Lava Falls Rapid is just downriver and can easily be seen and heard from the overlook. Thank you very much Kelly, now I wave two views of this awesome site. This postcard took 17 days to arrive!
Carved out by the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon (nearly 1,500 m deep) is the most spectacular gorge in the world. Located in the state of Arizona, it cuts across the Grand Canyon National Park. Its horizontal strata retrace the geological history of the past 2 billion years. There are also prehistoric traces of human adaptation to a particularly harsh environment.
