Grand Canyon National Park - AZ - USA - UNESCO #75

Another oficial card from United States of America (mailed the same day as the previous). It was sent by a postcrosser from North Carolina, but she picked a card from Arizona, showing one unusual view of the famous Grand Canyon, not a aerial picture, but instead a photo from below. The Grand Canyon is one of the many "bucket list" places in the US I really wish to visit one day and, of course, a UNESCO WHS (since 1979). Thank you very much Margaret for choosing a UNESCO card for me - my collection now have 265 sites (716 to go). This postcard took 11 days to arrive!
UNESCO #75 - Grand Canyon - AZ - USA
Carved out by the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon (nearly 1,500 m deep) is the most spectacular gorge in the world. Located in the state of Arizona, it cuts across the Grand Canyon National Park. Its horizontal strata retrace the geological history of the past 2 billion years. There are also prehistoric traces of human adaptation to a particularly harsh environment.
