Central Balkan National Park - BULGARIA - UNESCO TENTATIVE

Now that I have all the UNESCO WHS from Bulgaria, my good friend Tsvetana is helping me gathering the sites that are on the Tentative list. The Stara Planina is one of her favorite laces in Bulgaria and she loves to go trekking there with her husband; it's part of Central Balkan National Park (that's it's logo on the upper left corner). Thank you very much Tsveti. This postcard took 10 days to arrive!

Stara Planina - BULGARIA - UNESCO TENTATIVE

Central Balkan National Park, situated in the heart of Bulgaria, includes the central and highest parts of Stara Planina Mountain (The Balkan Mountain Range). The park extends in East-West direction for about 85 km, covering a 10 km wide stripe and altitude from 550 m up to the highest peak of Stara Planina mountains - Botev peak - 2376 m. The park was established to protect the unique wilderness of Central Stara Planina Mountains and the local traditions and livelihoods linked to it.
