Versailles - FRANCE - UNESCO #83

Versailles is probably the most famous French palace and the benchmark for all those that were built after. It all started with a hunting lodge in the early 17th century, but it quickly grew to one of the largest palaces in the world. I've been there once and it's really something. The think I liked the most was walking around the amazing park (the palace itself is astonishing beautiful, but in August just to crowded with tourists) and the best memory is running from a major shower rain that took us by surprise and left me drenched. Thank you so much for this cards Nadia, a major contribution to my collection. Ok, 219 down, 762 to go. This postcard took 5 days to arrive!
UNESCO #83 - Châteaux de Versailles - FRANCE
The Palace of Versailles was the principal residence of the French kings from the time of Louis XIV to Louis XVI. Embellished by several generations of architects, sculptors, decorators and landscape architects, it provided Europe with a model of the ideal royal residence for over a century.
