The Tower of London - ENGLAND - UNESCO #488

One of the obligatory visits when you go to London is the great fortress in the city center known as The Tower of London (originally called White Tower) and travel trough time guided by a smiling Beefeater - it was the best tour I had the first time I went to London more than 20 years ago and now I can revisit it thanks to this beautiful card. Thank you very much Lucy for another great swap, now I have all the UNESCO sites in London and my collection reaches 192, only 789 to the end. This postcard took 5 days to arrive!
UNESCO #488 - The Tower of London and Tower Bridge - ENGLAND
The massive White Tower is a typical example of Norman military architecture, whose influence was felt throughout the kingdom. It was built on the Thames by William the Conqueror to protect London and assert his power. The Tower of London – an imposing fortress with many layers of history, which has become one of the symbols of royalty – was built around the White Tower.
