Summer Palace - CHINA - UNESCO #880

More than a month after it was written, this wonderful official card arrived safely to my mailbox. It was sent by Angus, another UNESCO collector that lives in Hong Kong, that picked this beautiful photo of a part of the Summer Palace in Beijing, a WHS I didn't had yet. Thank you very much Angus, hope your collection grows quickly. Mine, thanks to you just reached 181 different sites, only 800 to finish (easy peasy!). This postcard took 35 days to arrive!

UNESCO #880 - Shifang (Marble Boat), Summer Palace, Beijing - CHINA
The Summer Palace in Beijing – first built in 1750, largely destroyed in the war of 1860 and restored on its original foundations in 1886 – is a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design. The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value.
