Batad Rice Terraces - PHILIPPINES - UNESCO #722

My dear friend Jan from Philippines noticed that the card I had from the famous Rice Terraces showed a picture that was in fact from one area that wasn't included in the UNESCO site, because of the modern construction that took some authenticity, so she sent me this one from Batad one of the five clusters of terraces really included in the list. Thank you very much for your attention Jan, now my collection is more accurate. This postcard took 23 days to arrive!

UNESCO #722 - Rice Terraces in Batad, Banaue - PHILIPPINES

The Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras is an outstanding example of an evolved, living cultural landscape that can be traced as far back as two millennia ago in the pre-colonial Philippines. The Batad terrace cluster of the municipality of Banaue that is nestled in amphitheatre-like semi-circular terrqaces with a village at its base. The fruit of knowledge handed down from one generation to the next, and the expression of sacred traditions and a delicate social balance, they have helped to create a landscape of great beauty that expresses the harmony between humankind and the environment.
