The Bourges Cathedral - FRANCE - UNESCO #635

France has a impressive number of majestic Gothic cathedrals each one with something special to discover. This postcard came from Bourges, almost in the geographical center of that wonderful country. Thank you very much Elisa, for this nice contribution to my UNESCO collection - I now have 145, only 836 to finish. This postcard took 5 days to arrive!

UNESCO #635 - La Cathédtrale St. Étienne, Bourges - FRANCE
The Cathedral of St Etienne of Bourges, built between the late 12th and late 13th centuries, is one of the great masterpieces of Gothic art and is admired for its proportions and the unity of its design. The tympanum, sculptures and stained-glass windows are particularly striking. Apart from the beauty of the architecture, it attests to the power of Christianity in medieval France.
