Alentejo - PORTUGAL
My sweet Alentejo, probably the portuguese region I like the most, it't a wonderfull place for a road trip all year around, but specially in spring (when the fields still have some green and lots of little flowers). This postcard was sent by a postcrosser that lives near Lisbon but also loves this beautiful region. Thank you very much Joana. This postcard took 3 days to arrive!
Alentejo is a south-central region of Portugal. The origin of its name, "Além-Tejo", literally translates to "Beyond the Tagus" or "Across the Tagus". The region is separated from the rest of Portugal by the Tagus river (north), and extends to the south where it borders the Algarve. Alentejo is a mainly rural region known for its plain landscapes, gastronomy and polyphonic singing groups, comparable to those found on Sardinia and Corsica.
