The Cologne Cathedral Dome - GERMANY - UNESCO #292

This is a rare postcard only available for those who are brave enough to climb the 533 stone spiral steps to the top of the dome (more than 100m). It's not easy, specially after lunch, but it's well worth - the view is simply amazing. The only bad thing was that they didn't let me rang the bell. After a good half hour just looking to the city and the river I've decided to get down really fast (oozy but fun) and grab some nice Berliner to balance the spent calories.

The Cologne Cathedral Dome (exclusive card) - GERMANY

Begun in 1248, the construction of this Gothic masterpiece took place in several stages and was not completed until 1880. Over seven centuries, successive builders were inspired by the same faith and a spirit of absolute fidelity to the original plans. Apart from its exceptional intrinsic value and the artistic masterpieces it contains, Cologne Cathedral testifies to the enduring strength of European Christianity.

BJS
