Porto - PORTUGAL - UNESCO #755

My mother went to Porto with some friends on a shopping trip and she sent me this nice Douro river view of that wonderful city even after I tell her I had a lot of Porto postcards - but I'm not complaining, it's always good to receive mail and thanks to POSTCROSSING I think I have received more postcards in the last 4 months than in the previous 10 years or so (the mailman must think I'm crazy). Thanks a lot mum for my 5th Porto post on this blog!

UNESCO #755 - Porto riverside - PORTUGAL
The city of Oporto, built along the hillsides overlooking the mouth of the Douro river, is an outstanding urban landscape with a 2,000-year history. Its continuous growth, linked to the sea (the Romans gave it the name Portus, or port), can be seen in the many and varied monuments, from the cathedral with its Romanesque choir, to the neoclassical Stock Exchange and the typically Portuguese Manueline-style Church of Santa Clara.
