Steiff Museum - Germany
My first postcard lottery victory! In the postcrossing forum, users can offer postcards to another user randomly chosen between the participants. This time I won - thanks Sabine for this nice card you've got on the Steiff museum! There was a Steiff factory in Portugal, but last February it was closed and relocated in Tunisia. This postcard took 6 days to arrive!
Steiff is a German-based plush toy company known for its high quality and famous for the teddy bears. It was begun in 1880 by Margarete Steiff, who was later assisted by her brother Fritz. The most common materials used in Steiff toys are alpaca, felt, mohair, and woven plush. Eyes are generally made of wood or glass, and the stuffing is commonly wood shavings or polyester fibers. A large amount of the work is done by hand, from design sketches to airbrushed paint.
