Rice Terraces of Ifugao, Luzon - PHILIPPINES - UNESCO #722

The second card from Phillipines has a wonderful picture of the rice terraces of Ifugao, in the region of Banaue, on the north hills of the island of Luzon. That must be a breathtaking view. Thank you very much Agatha for this amazing swap, now I have 84 UNESCO sites in my collection, only 897 till the end. This postcard took 17 days to arrive!

UNESCO #722 - Rice Terraces on the Philippines Cordilleras

The Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras is an outstanding example of an evolved, living cultural landscape that can be traced as far back as two millennia ago in the pre-colonial Philippines. The terraces are located in the remote areas of the Philippine Cordillera mountain range on the northern island of Luzon, Philippine archipelago. The fruit of knowledge handed down from one generation to the next, and the expression of sacred traditions and a delicate social balance, they have helped to create a landscape of great beauty that expresses the harmony between humankind and the environment.
