Statue of Liberty, Liberty Island - NY - USA - UNESCO #307

This is probably the most famous American Monument and it was the second card sent by Claudia I receive today - thanks a lot for this wonderful double swap. It's impossible to think about America without imagining Lady Liberty. She's my 46th UNESCO site in my collection, I'm almost done, only 916 sites to finish (piece of cake!). This postcard took 8 days to arrive!

UNESCO #307 - Liberty Island - NY - USA

Made in Paris by the French sculptor Bartholdi, in collaboration with Gustave Eiffel (who was responsible for the steel framework), this towering monument to liberty was a gift from France on the centenary of American independence in 1886. Standing at the entrance to New York Harbour, it has welcomed millions of immigrants to the United States ever since.
