Ir.D.F. Woudagemaal - NETHERLANDS - UNESCO #867

This the second card Moniek sent me (and I just realized that those are the first I receive from the Netherlands) with another UNESCO site, this time a steam powered water pumping station that still works after 90 years keeping the lands nether! Thanks a lot for this swap Moniek, now I have 51 sites, only 911 (like the porsche) to go.  This postcard took 3 days to arrive!

UNESCO #867 - D.F. Wouda Steam Pumping Station - NETHERLANDS
The Wouda Pumping Station at Lemmer in the province of Friesland opened in 1920. It is the largest steam-pumping station ever built and is still in operation. It represents the high point of the contribution made by Netherlands engineers and architects in protecting their people and land against the natural forces of water.

  1. 19 WHS added a few days ago, 981 sites in total, so more cards to get....

  2. yes, I know... I'll update the list soon - and from that new inscriptions I already have two! :)
