Castle of Heidelberg - GERMANY - UNESCO TENTATIVE

This beautiful card shows the ruins of the castle of Heidelberg in Germany. Like with the abbeys in France and England, when I see a place like this I always wish I could travel back in time to see them in full splendor. This site is a UNESCO candidate and according to Sabrina, the sender of this postcard (thanks!) it's a awesome place. This postcard took 5 days to arrive!

Castle of Heidelberg - GERMANY - UNESCO TENTATIVE

Heidelberg is situated in an unique landscape in the valley of the River Neckar. The castle is a chef d'oeuvre of German renaissance architecture. With the ruins of the castle, the baroque style architecture based on a ground plan of the middle ages and the surrounding landscape Heidelberg became the centre of the German romanticism in the l9th century.
