Porto - PORTUGAL - UNESCO #755

My sister went to Tenerife this week on a professional trip... of course I've phoned her asking for some postcards from there (Shame on me... I'm worse than a small kid with a new toy). She's a sweet thing and send me the first from Porto (or Oporto) airport while waiting for the plane - another UNESCO site, yeah... 17 down, 945 to go! Thanks a lot Helena, a big kiss for you! This postcard took 2 days to arrive!

UNESCO #755 - Historic Centre of Oporto - PORTUGAL

The city of Oporto, built along the hillsides overlooking the mouth of the Douro river, is an outstanding urban landscape with a 2,000-year history. Its continuous growth, linked to the sea (the Romans gave it the name Portus, or port), can be seen in the many and varied monuments, from the cathedral with its Romanesque choir, to the neoclassical Stock Exchange and the typically Portuguese Manueline-style Church of Santa Clara.
