Petäjävesi Old Church - FINLAND - UNESCO #584

This card is my first received card from Finland; its an official card sent by manme from a UNESCO site (yeah... thanks a lot Mervi!), the Old Church of Petäjävesi - well, to be honest it's just a detail of the cloth that stands on the altar, but to me it still counts! With this one I raise my collection to the nice number of 34 sites, only 928 to the end (easy peasy). This postcard took 5 days to arrive!

UNESCO #584 - Petäjävesi Old Church (Altar Cloth Detail) - FINLAND

Petäjävesi Old Church, in central Finland, was built of logs between 1763 and 1765. This Lutheran country church is a typical example of an architectural tradition that is unique to eastern Scandinavia. It combines the Renaissance conception of a centrally planned church with older forms deriving from Gothic groin vaults.
