Monastery of Svyatohirsk - UKRAINE

Another direct swap, another postcard from Ukraine - this time from Vera (thanks a lot, I love this card) and showing a old and enigmatic monastery... it's not a UNESCO site yet, not even a tentative, but I believe it will soon be part of the list, because its story is very interesting and worth reading. This postcard took 7 days to arrive!
Orthodox Christian Monastery of Svyatohirsk - Donetsk - UKRAINE

Svyato-Uspenska Svyatohirska Lavra — Orthodox Christian Monastery (a lavra) dedicated to the Assumption of Mother of God, Donetsk province in eastern Ukraine. The monastery, which is a part of the state historical and architectural preserve in the town of Svyatohirsk, was established in the seventeenth century and has a system of caves and underground corridors in which the original monks supposedly lived.
